Academic ability cultivation is one of the main tasks of master's degree education. The academic abilities of graduate students mainly include two aspects: basic academic skills and academic literacy. However, due to long-established passive learning habits, many law graduate students lack the academic skills and academic literacy to conduct academic research independently. The paths for enhancing the academic abilities of law graduate students are diverse, but compared to other cultivation paths, each step of Seminar-based teaching cultivates and trains the academic skills and academic literacy of graduate students, playing a positive role in their academic ability cultivation. The implementation of Seminar-based teaching requires certain conditions and overcoming potential difficulties. With the development and application of generative artificial intelligence, teachers should guide students to make rational use of it to prevent students from relying too much on it, which could weaken the role of research-based teaching in academic ability cultivation.
