This paper analyzes the interplay between natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and character psychology in Ibsen’s play Lady from the Sea from the perspective of tourism destinations and character psychology. It explores the literary significance of tourism destinations and how Lady from the Sea shapes the cultural image of a small Norwegian town through its depiction of natural beauty and cultural atmosphere. The paper also examines the identity transformation and psychological changes of the protagonist Ellida, and how the “tourist gaze” helps understand the characters’ inner worlds and social contexts. By analyzing Ellida’s pursuit of freedom, the paper reveals the struggle of women between tradition and modernity in the late 19th century and the impact of the tourist experience on character reconstruction. Finally, it highlights the significance of the play for contemporary tourism culture, including the shaping of cultural images of tourist destinations, emotional resonance for tourists, and the spiritual dimension of travel activities.
