Online learning ability is important in determining the effectiveness of online learning. In this paper, in-depth interview and social network analysis were used to study the relevant factors and their specific relationships affecting the online learning ability of medical students from four medical colleges in different regions of China: the east, south, west, and north. The findings indicate that the main factors affecting the online learning ability of Chinese medical undergraduates are learning motivation, independent learning ability, interactive ability and learning summary ability. Among these, learning motivation is the most important factor. It exerts the greatest impact on interaction ability, and there is a high correlation between them. The influence of learning summary ability on online learning ability is weaker than the other three factors. Based on these results, it is suggested to pay attention to learners' ontological characteristics, enhance learning motivation, innovate classroom interaction design, improve learning interaction ability, clarify teaching methods, improve independent learning ability, improve teaching support and service, as well as promote the ability to summarize and reflect on learning.
